NNSA Release: NNSA releases annual performance reviews of management and operations partners

Today the National Nuclear Security Administration announced the FY 2023 results of the performance of its Managing and Operating (M&O) partners in meeting NNSA’s performance expectations. The results can be found in NNSA’s Performance Evaluation Summaries posted on NNSA’s website.

NNSA Release: W80-4 Life Extension Program Enters Phase 6.4, Production Engineering

In March 2023, the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration’s Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs approved the W80-4 Life Extension Program (LEP) to transition into Phase 6.4, Production Engineering. The W80-4 LEP achieved Phase 6.4 entry following successful execution of the Preliminary Design Review and Acceptance Group Review and the System Baseline Design Review, and passing through the System Pre-Production Engineering Gate.

NNSA Release - NNSA hosting virtual job fair for Nuclear Security Enterprise on June 29

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) will host a virtual job fair for the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) Wednesday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (ET). The NSE is looking for the next generation of nuclear security professionals and working to hire over 3,500 new employees in 2022 to join its workforce of over 50,000 strong.

NNSA Release: Decisions uphold integrity of contracting process and will position NNSA to manage growing mission requirements

WASHINGTON – The Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration announced today that it is canceling its November 2020 contract solicitation for management and operation of the Pantex Plant and Y-12 National Security Complex and terminating the contract award announced in November 2021 for the two sites. NNSA intends to hold two new competitions for separate contracts to manage each site.

NNSA Release: Pantexans support Egg Drop competition

Fifteen Pantexans volunteered as judges at the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering’s 6th Annual Egg Drop Competition this past November. Held at Amarillo’s Don Harrington Discovery Center, the competition required students in grades 5–12 to design and construct an Egg Drop Mechanism to release from a height of 20 feet, testing their engineering, math, and physics skills with a fun, real-world application.
