Community
The Pantex mission is vital to the security of our nation, and the work we do to support the community also makes a huge impact where we live and learn. We demonstrate our commitment to being good corporate neighbors by giving our time, talents, and targeted financial investments each year in the Texas Panhandle.
Through volunteerism and board service, our employees actively support local nonprofit organizations, providing thousands of volunteer hours to community service projects and educational and workforce development programs each year.
Pantexans also lend a hand to support programs that encourage students to develop science, technology, engineering, and math, or STEM skills. For more than 28 years, we have sponsored the regional Science Bowl competition, and sent our winning teams to the DOE National Science Bowl.
In addition to community and education outreach, Pantex also maintains mutual aid agreements with agencies in communities surrounding the plant to respond to emergency requests. The Pantex Fire Department averages 52 calls per year for not only assistance with wild land fires, structure fires, and motor vehicle accidents, but for medical assistance using the Pantex ambulance.
